What is The Poetry Burlesque?

The Poetry Burlesque is an event better experienced than explained, but here is a brief description:

Created by The Poetry Elf in October 2017, this is a 19+ variety show that explores all the different ways to play! Including sassy poets, sexy dancers, drag, comedy, music +more. There’s something for everyone!

More than just an event, The Poetry Burlesque is a movement for sexual liberation. It is motivated by the belief that communities need safe spaces to explore themes of love, lust, sex and sensuality- without being held back by conventional boundaries. This kind of creative expression allows us to see sexuality through the lens of people who may be very different from us, and sharing that kind vulnerability in an intimate performance setting is a powerful way to foster sex positivity. This is how The Poetry Burlesque connects communities through a unique stimulation of culture, and it is under these premises that we are seeking to register as a non profit society in BC. If you are interested in being more involved with our journey, visit our Patreon and find our how you can donate as little as $5 a month to directly support local arts while receiving unique perks!

These events can be expected to sell out, so you might want to pay attention to when the next one is and get your tickets early! It’s an evening to entice any audience. After all, what's more exciting and relatable than sex? #poetryburlesque
